Alec & Mia's Special Miracle
Wednesday evening I stayed home from church with Alec and Mia, since Mia had been sick all day. I think we were all feeling a little downhearted (Phil & Bobby had left for Ohio in the afternoon) and Alec started crying for his daddy & mommy, and to go home. As his crying intensified and the usual comforting wasn't working, I sensed an anger in him toward the whole situation. It was heartbreaking when I said, "Alec, let's just pray about it," and he cried out, "It DOESN'T work!" I pled with God to help me as I tried to explain to him that prayer does work. I had been reading in Acts 19 and in a break in our talking, I resumed reading where I had left off. Verse 11....And God wrought special miracles....those words really hit me and I said, "Alec, THIS is what we need...a SPECIAL MIRACLE for Baby Nick. Let's pray for a special miracle!" Alec and Mia were all in agreement with that and together we asked God for a special miracle for Baby Nick, so the family could be together again and for a special miracle for Alec and Mia, so they wouldn't be so sad. Their little hearts seemed lighter and more hopeful right away. Awed and overwhelmed are just a couple of the words to describe the feelings we had when Rob's called the next day to say that Baby Nick was going to be coming home today!!! To think that God cared enough about a little boy's faith in Him to give him this SPECIAL MIRACLE!! There's been a lot of praising the Lord going on here and I'm sure the praises are echoing in a lot of other homes, too. Thanks so much for your prayers for Alec and Mia while they were here. We have enjoyed having them here, but are SO happy for them that they can go home with their family again. Rob's should be arriving home before long now and Alec & Mia are packed and READY to go!

Celebrating the Good News!
Alec thought we ought to have a celebration tonight, so I asked what he thought a celebration should include. He had very specific thoughts on that and Mia added her opinion....we needed hot dogs, macaroni & cheese, balloons, candy, and friends. It seemed like a good idea to the rest of us, so we called Sandra to see if we could get her and Katie over here (and had the extra blessing of Roselle and Rachelle, too), then ran in to get the balloons. I stretched my culinary skills and made the hot dogs and macaroni & cheese and we were all set for a good evening. The children played with balloons and play dough and had a wonderful time together. Thanks for coming over Katie!
Phil, James, and Jason are on their way home from Elida but still have eight hours to go so we won't be seeing them tonight. :(

As I voiced the common question that we women have running through our minds, "What should I make for supper tonight?", Alec's rely was, "Do you know how to make hot dogs?" When I told him "probably not very well, AND we don't have any," he wondered, "do you have the stuff to make them?" I said I didn't and he replied in a disappointed voice, "you probably don't have any macaroni and cheese either, do you?" Poor guy...I need to get to Walmart and get some supplies to make this a more child friendly house!!!
Mia was acting sleepy and cuddly last night and again this morning, so I wondered if she may be getting sick. When the vomiting started soon after we got back from taking the children to school...I knew! She has been sleeping most of the morning. I brought her mattress out to the kitchen and have been working there so she is close when she wakes up. Will give you update later.

My mom will be returning from Ohio where she is take care of my Grandpa while my Aunt Linda and her family are away. I can't wait to see her. I miss her a lot. Alec and Mia are staying at James and Kristy Kurtz right now. It was hard for mom to see them go. She has gotten quite attached to them. We will miss them when they leave. Well I guess I'll sign off.

Snow Day!!!
We did get snow!!! Only a couple of inches though. With the ice coming first, it made the roads quite slick, so the girls even had a day off from school. Carmen took Alec and Mia out to play in the snow for awhile this morning. We plan to head to the park to do a little sledding soon.
Alec gave me a real compliment at suppertime. We had a very simple meal and one I didn't consider too child friendly ....refried beans, fry jacks, pico de gallo, and guacamole. As Alec was eating he said, "These beans are awesome!" It doesn't take much in the line of culinary skills to please a child!

I sure haven't kept up with this very well this week....the days were very full and makes even these pictures from Wednesday seem rather outdated. Alec and Mia have been telling me about all the neat things they saw at the Aquarium. We have had a very relaxing day today and haven't even expended the energy to take new pictures...maybe tomorrow.

Back Again
After going three separate ways for the weekend, the inhabitants of the Bear's den have all gathered back again. When we picked up Alec and Mia in Baltimore on our way home from PA, Alec was having a little stress with missing his mommy. I assured him that a lot of people are praying for him and Mia because we all know this separation is hard for them. His question was, "How many people? Do you think 55?" I told him I think it is actually more than 55! He reads the posts, so if you want to let him know you are praying for them, we will make sure he sees it. Mia happily chattered most of the way home. When Phil told her, "Mia, you are doing sooo good", her quick reply was, "Well, praise the Lord!"
Alec & Mia had to go back to the doctor for a recheck on the throats yesterday morning. Afterward we did some shopping then met Phyllis Bear (Jerald's had come down for the weekend after Jake's wedding) and Karen Mast at Panera for lunch. Alec chose a dog vest from Dollar Tree for his "after doctor" gift and Mia chose play dough. They got a lot of miles out of the play dough last night and probably will this afternoon, too.

Alec & Mia's Big Day
It's been an exciting day for Alec and Mia! This morning the women from church came for prayer and tea time. Alec and Mia loved having another tea party and attention from so many "aunties". This afternoon when I asked Alec if he would like to write on his daddy's blog, Mia piped up with, "When are we going to write on Miomi's blog?"!! (There shouldn't be any problem with Seasonal Affective Disorder around this place these long winter days!!)
Sandra, Katie, and Rachelle brought pizza over for supper and we were joined by Fido, Miss Judy, Jamin, Kara, and Sonny who came to spend the evening with Janelle and Jordan. Sandra brought the makings for gingerbread cookies and Katie, Alec, and Mia spent a delightful evening making and eating cookies.
